TUI-PS&A Message of support to workers of USB for their strike on May 21

WFTU TRADE UNION INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SERVICE & ALLIED MESSAGE OF SUPPORT FOR THE 21st MAY STRIKE BY UNIONE SINDICALE DE BASE (USB) OF ITALY AGAINST UNDERFUNDING OF PUBLIC HEALTH CARE.

21 May 2021

“Workers of the world unite you have nothing to lose but your chains”

The WFTU, Trade Union International – Public Service and Allied (TUI-PS&A) which represents more than 30 million workers across the world takes this opportunity to pledge its solidarity and support to the 21st  of May National Strike by the “UNIONE SINDICALE DI BASE (USB) in Italy.

We fully support the struggles waged by workers “Against Lack of Funding and privatisation for public healthcare” which is a class struggle waged by millions of workers across the world. We condemn the short memory of the Italian government of not learning from the devastating impact of COVID 19 pandemic that the people of Italy faced at the onset of this pandemic where thousands of people lost their lives in this country.

We had thought that Italy which was one of the first countries to receive the Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Brigade would have understood the importance of investing in public health and not continue with privatisation of these services.   We therefore stand hand in hand with our members of the USB during their strike and urge the Italian government to listen to workers and respond positively to their demands.

TUI-PS&A and all our affiliates around the world will be supporting the STRIKE calling upon the government to STOP privatisation of healthcare and invest in public health services.

Forward to Victory!!!

Long Live USB

Viva International Working Class Solidarity!!!
