Statement of TUI -PS & A of WFTU on the 34th Anniversary of NEHAWU

 

 

“Workers of the world unite you have nothing to lose but your chains”

 The sector union of the class oriented World Federation of Trade Unions [WFTU],The Trade Union International Public Services and Allied [TUI PS & A], wants to take this opportunity to congratulate National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU) on its 34^th Anniversary of its formation on the 27 of June 1987.

 NEHAWU is one of our strongest affiliates, organising workers in the public service in South Africa. Since its formation during ‘Apartheid’, the most brutal oppressive systems ever witnessed in the world, the union has been in the forefront in championing and defending the interest and rights of workers in the workplace.

With the increase of numbers of COVID-19 in South Africa and the country now in the third wave with delta variant of the virus ravaging the country, it is NEHAWU and its workers who are in the forefront of fighting this pandemic.

As a class oriented and internationalist union, NEHAWU has also been championing our global campaigns such as: campaigns to free Palestinian children in Israeli jails, campaign against the USA blockade on Cuba, Campaign against the USA aggression on Venezuela, as well as our campaign for ‘Free and Safe Vaccine for all ‘,to mention just a few.

We wish the union strength and success as it continues to represent workers, not only in South Africa but in the world.
