WFTU TRADE UNION INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SERVICE & ALLIED (TUI-PS&A) MESSAGE OF SOLIDARITY WITH WORKERS AND PEOPLES OF DONBASS IN THE TERRITORIES OF DONETSK (DPR) AND LUGANSK (LPR)
“Workers of the world unite you have nothing to lose but your chains”
The World Federation of Trade Unions [WFTU] Trade Union International Public Services and Allied [TUI PS & A] joines millions of workers and progressive organisations around the world in pledging solidarity with workers and peoples of Donbass in the territories of Donetsk (DPR) and Lugansk (LPR) who are under attack from the Ukrainian right wing government supported by the USA, EU and NATO.
We strongly reject the propaganda and misinformation from the mainstream media in the West, unleashed on Russia led by the USA meant to portray Russia as the aggressor and trying to start an unnecessary war that would result in the devastation of the economy of the world which is still reeling from impact brought by more than two years of shut down due to COVID 19.
We support the workers and the people of Russia in rejecting the maneuvers from EU, NATO and USA in trying to expand NATO into borders of Russia. Having failed in this regard, these imperialist blocks led by the USA are now unleashing a new war on the peoples of Donbass by trying and provoking a new war with Russia using Ukraine. Kiev with its fascist army began an onslaught on Donbass that has seen dozens of civilians dead overnight and more than 40 000 refugees crossing the border into Russia.
The people of Donbass do not need imperialist wars in their territories, they need peace, in order to deal with COVID-19 and its devastating impact on jobs, health and the economies of their people. We therefore condemn these unwarranted attacks on these peaceful states by government of Ukraine supported by its allies in NATO, EU and the USA including all its propaganda media outlets.
We call upon all our members around the world to continue pledging solidarity with workers and peoples of Donbass during these difficult times. We further call the UN to intervene and condemn these actions of Kiev and its allies in the west.
