SOLIDARITY STATEMENT
ON THE PASSING OF COMRADE MARIO HUAMAN RIVERA OF CGTP PERU
The Trade Union
International for Public Services and Allied Workers [TUI PS&A] sends its
heartfelt condolences to the family, comrades, workers and working class of
Peru and in particular members of the General Confederation of Workers (CGTP)
of Peru on the passing of Cde.Mario Huamán Rivera.
Cde.Mario, the
former General Secretary of CGTP was an Internationalist and activistwell known
for his extraordinary work as a trade unionist as well as his international
work in WFTU. He supported the work of many affiliates of WFTU in Latin America
including our affiliate in the Public Service SUTINSN in Peru. He was in the
forefront with frontline workers when COVID-19 pandemic was ravaging the world.
Cde. Mario was very instrumental
in leading many of WFTU programs includingthe international working class
solidarity campaigns such as solidarity with peoples of Palestine, Cuba and Venezuela
as well as campaign for peace and just world.
Indeed, he will be remembered
by the working class around the world especially public service workers which our
movement represent for his tireless dedication to social justice,
internationalism and in the defense of workers’ rights and rights for
collective bargaining.
TUI-PS&A will continue
intensifyingits international working class solidarity campaigns for social
justice in defense of workers’ rights in all across the world through Continental
and Regional programmes in honour of Comrade Mario HuamánRivera.
