ANNOUNCEMENT OF TRADE UNIONS OF EUROPE
Dear Colleagues,
The Trade Unions of Europe addresses a class struggle salute to all European civil servants' unions, to all public services employees.
In all the unions we fight for the protection of the health and the rights of the workers. We have given and are giving small and big battles, hopeful fights. Battles against business groups, their governments. At a time when thousands of workers, retirees, the masses die in the ICUs, the governments are promoting and voting in the parliaments laws that remove our labor and insurance rights that are left.
Profits are the priority for business interests, their governments, the EU. They are worried about them; they take measures taking advantage of the pandemic. That is why they are once again burdening the crisis on the backs of the workers, of the popular strata, as they did with the capitalist crisis in 2010.
A crisis that the pandemic fastened. A crisis that brings with it a new, strong attack to working’s class rights and salaries and also a horrific attack on workers' democratic and trade union rights. We don’t believe that the pandemic is the cause of the bad situation of our class. Besides, even in the period of the capitalistic growth, workers still were losing every year more rights in social security, salaries, stable work, 8hour workday etc.
The responsibilities of governments in all countries are enormous and criminal.
The health of the people is turned into a commodity for the large business groups of the private sector. Even vaccines are already in the hands of the multinationals. Their profits are huge, such as Pfizer, which has so far increased its profits by $15 billion.
The militant unions should not be inactive. We must continue our action. Without waiting. To strengthen solidarity in every country. Do not accept the deterioration of our lives. Repression should not scare us. We move forward. We have a duty, an obligation to the working class, to the life and rights of our families, of our children to organize the struggle. To take initiatives.
We are calling for coordination of European unions of Public Services Employees
