TUI-PS&A Statement on Solidarity with Cuba on US sponsored protests

WFTU TRADE UNION INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SERVICE & ALLIED (TUI-PS&A)STATEMENTIN SUPPORT OF CUBA AGAINST THE USA ORCHESTRATED AND DIRECTED PROTEST AGAINST CUBA

“Workers of the world unite you have nothing to lose but your chains”

The World Federation of Trade Unions [WFTU] Trade Union International Public Services and Allied [TUI PS & A] take this opportunity to denounce in the strongest terms the latest campaign from the United states of America to subvert and politically destabilize Cuba and the working class by sponsoring antigovernment protest in that country in the middle of a devastating pandemic.

The United States is paying a group of counter revolutionary, mercenaries indirectly through its US agencies working for regime change and destabilization programs to create social unrest in the country.

Cuba is being punished through the illegal, unjust, cruel economic blockade, not because of lack of human rights on the Island, quite the opposite, the US targets Cuba because the Cuban government prioritises human rights at home and abroad.

Our Trade Union movement has been consistently campaigning in all our regions throughout the world for the US to lift the economic and financial blockade on Cuba, especially now that Cuba is fighting COVID-19 pandemic not only in Cuba but all over the world.

Cuba has also managed to develop its own three vaccines that are now being used in fighting the pandemic in Cuba and Latin America. We believe it is these achievements that are fueling the politics of isolating Cuba by Washington as this send a bad message to other countries that might see Cuba as a shining example.

If the US wants to help the Cuban population, it must lift the economic blockade, so Cuba could be able to trade freely, including sourcing the much needed supplies to fight COVID-19 pandemic.

TUI-PS&A therefore call upon the all its members and progressive organisations to denounce this barbaric foreign policy of the United States and support Cuba in its struggles for national sovereignty and self-determination.
